What the badge does and does not say

**It says:** the profile photo on this account matches a live selfie of the same person.

**It does not say:** that this person is trustworthy, that their name is real, that their age is real, that they are single, that they have no record, or that they will treat you well. YouPlanet checks none of those and claims none of them.

Take the same precautions with a verified person as with an unverified one. Read Safety.

How it works

A few frames of your face are captured, in the poses shown on screen.

The frames are sent for review.

A trained reviewer compares them with your profile photo.

The result usually comes in a few hours, and at most 24.

Face recognition? No

YouPlanet does not currently use face recognition, biometric templates or face geometry. No mathematical representation of your face is created or stored. A human does the comparison and the output is a yes or a no.

If automated matching is ever added for speed or accuracy, this document is updated **before** it ships, it is explained in the Privacy Policy, and separate consent is taken. Adding it quietly is what several large companies have been fined for.

Where those images go

Into private storage, separate from profile photos.

No user can see them, under any circumstances.

Only authorised reviewers have access, and every access is logged.

They are deleted within 30 days of the decision.

They are not used for advertising, model training, or anything else.

If you delete your account they enter the deletion queue immediately.

If it is not accepted

There are two different outcomes and they are deliberately kept apart:

**Try again** — the frames were blurred, too dark, or the face was not fully visible. That means take them again, not that anything is wrong with you.

**Not verified** — the selfie did not match the profile photo. If you think that is wrong, you can appeal.

Neither outcome closes your account or takes any feature away. Verification is optional and stays optional.

Losing the badge

If you change your profile photo to one that does not match the earlier verification, the badge is removed and you can request it again. This is not a penalty; the badge is about the current photo.
